Will you fly me away...

I took these screencaps maybe a week ago thinking I'd make a post the next day but then life took over and here I am making the post now. I love the concept of having a digital book reader mainly because of the sheer number of books you can have access to in seconds and it would be useful for road trips or vacations where you may want to read more than one book. At the same time I love having a hard copy of a book, to be able to feel the pages and read the words right there in print. I've been an avid reader since I was young, reading and rereading books constantly. I used to walk around the house with a soccer ball at my feet and a book in my face, I would even eat dinner with a book in hand.

If you are thinking, "Get to the point Cadie, where are the rest of the screencaps you mentioned earlier?" I'm getting to them :D The point of me evening taking the screencaps is that the Amazon Kindle has some of the best commercials (reminiscent of my favorite Target commercials) and I'd thought I'd share some of the fun with you (None of these images belong to me, all taken from the Amazon Kindle commercials).

It's not Syracuse without rain (or snow)

After my week and a half from hell ended, I threw some things in a backpack and took an impromptu trip up to Syracuse, where I had spent the better part of 4 years for undergrad. One of my lovely housemates still lives there in the house we lived in for junior and senior year and I was more than happy to spend the next 24 hours with her, her boyfriend and some of her new housemates :)

We watched Finding Nemo and went to the zoo, where of course it poured for the better part of our visit but I still had a great time. After looking through the pictures I took at the zoo I realized that there are pretty much none of people, just animals, and I want the ones that Alida and Ashli took on their cameras!

During a moment of really heavy rain we hung out with the snow leopards. Neither of us wanted to be directly in the downpour. I also spent the better part of our time at the zoo making up what I thought the animals were thinking...plus we found Nemo and his dad, Jacque and Dory!

Overall, my trip was worth it despite having to get up on Wednesday at 7am so I could drive home, shower and be at work by 1pm. :D

Shop 'Till You Drop

Recently, I started going on a sort of shopping spree that should probably stop with the Modcloth purchase I plan on making within the next few days. My problem is for a few months (Jan. - end of April) I didn't really have a steady full-time job and I was extremely frugal with my spending. However, now that I've been working at Nordstrom for almost 2 whole months (I had to go into work today for FIVE minutes to do my 45 day review...seriously?) and received some nice paychecks that not only covered my loan payments but left me some extra for fun things, I've been going a little overboard on those fun things. I'm not mad at myself though because I am a good saver and I don't often get the chance to splurge :D

Yesterday a friend and I did a little retail therapy and I bought some stuff at Sephora which was partially covered by the gift card my little brother gave to me as a belated birthday present! I had remembered reading on Orchid Grey's blog that she uses Urban Decay's Big Fatty Mascara. Not only do I love her style and her septum piercing that I've been considering for about the past 2 years but she describes herself as a minimalist when it comes to makeup which, I definitely am too. If not for my gift card I probably would have been a little more hesitant to purchase it because I am not one for spending $20 on mascara but I tried it today and it seems worth the extra bucks considering it's not all over my face making me look like an asian raccoon.

I also bought a few things from forever21 and this polka dot top from delias which I didn't realize was on sale :D It's different from my usual style so if anyone has tips on how I should style it I'm open to suggestions!

The last purchase I will bore you guys with is from Whimsy & Spice and it's probably the best of them all! I bought espresso brownies, earl grey cookies and whisky sandwich cookies, all of which are delicious! As I mentioned in the last post, I recommend any of the items mentioned and I will probably order more considering I still want to try the cashew chili biscotti :D

Just words.

There has been one blog in particular that lately, has been especially inspiring to me. That blog is Sweet Fine Day written by one half of the duo behind Whimsy & Spice, one of my new favorite etsy shops. What I like about Jenna's blog is that she talks about her business but she also includes this personal aspect that someone like me can relate to. She doesn't cover up the fact that life isn't always perfect and you just have to get through those rough patches. Often I have a hard time really understanding the feelings of some of the fashion bloggers (though they have been a real inspiration to me as well) whose blogs I faithfully read daily. Don't get me wrong, I still feel like I've really absorbed a lot and even been able to apply the information I've learned to my life (yesterday my best friend mentioned how I looked stylish :D). To wrap this up, thank you to ALL of the blogs that I read that are a daily inspiration to me and you should consider purchasing some espresso brownies from Whimsy and Spice, I just ate one and they are to die for :)

I'm still here...

My life has gotten super busy as of late what with work being so hectic and my days off don't even really seem like days off anymore because I either spend them sleeping in, running errands/catch up stuff, or volunteering for my first aid squad. In about another 2.5 weeks I start a SECOND job which could possibly mean I work 7 days a week instead of 5 :D RIP my social life?

On my days off I either opt for wearing something girly or something super comfy since I practically live in my Norstrom espresso bar uniform of 2 black shirts, black pants, black socks and black shoes (though I cheat and wear my converse haha).

I am in love with this dress from Forever21<3

Right now shot...me tired and skeevy from work all day :D I love the long and lean tanks from Target, they are so comfy.
